DORMIO

Marcel Aiello, also known by 'Dormio', was quite the acquisition last year by the San Sedai Family. The ambient-hop, lo-fi producer has been on a non-stop experimenting phase with crafting his own brand of chill, downtempo sounds. Inspired by producers such as like Clams Casino, 40, and artists from YouTube channels like Mindful Music, or Chillhop Essentials, Marcel has been drawing on the effective techniques of those before him and constantly pushing himself to make better music.

Born in Naples, Italy, Marcel moved to New York at an early age and grew up there up until his sophomore year in high school where his family decided it was time to move. The went cross-country and moved to Los Angeles, California where Marcel's interest in music started growing into a fiery passion.

Alot of his friends in school were making music and it was here where he spent late hours learning the programs, sequencing, creating synths and developing drums. After making several beats, his friends starting joking with him saying that his music made them sleepy. Not that it was at all boring, but it created a relaxing atmosphere.

Soon Marcel started thinking of a name for himself and decided to call himself, 'Dormio' the Italian word for 'sleep'. He was hooked on the name and started producing more music and showing it off to more people. His popularity extended into his college years at UCI where he earned his Bachelors or Arts and Music.

Though his music became popular during college, his personal life became a problem. He was in and out of relationships with other women and it was affecting his mentality. So he eventually decided to move to Seattle and build up his music there.

Upon moving to Seattle and exploring the music scene, he would eventually bump into his future label mate, ThreeGen. After hearing Marcel's music, 3G decided to offer him a place in the San Sedai Family. It was an strange idea considering that the label was not a major record label, there was no contract for revenue, and the offer was simply to make music... for fun. Marcel was looking to become famous but after considering what he went through in college - when his popularity was rising- - he accepted the proposal and joined San Sedai Media.

"I thought about it for then entire night after he [3G] approached me. I liked the idea of having a solid base where I could continue crafting my music. And I could focus on whether I liked it or not rather than worrying about what other people think. San Sedai is the perfect place for that. Its a place to help you grow. And that's what I did. I mean the option is always there for me to go out and shoot for a major record company. But for now, I want to continue building myself up."
